Besides being The City of Light, Paris has this reputation for relentless gray sky - kind of contrary don't you think? I think the Lights are the man made kind. But I have lived here now for 2 years and 4 months and though we have had our share of days lidded with clouds, there're never too many in a row and I feel like I've seen the sun way more than the gray. Like today for example. It is gorgeous. Blue sky with puffy white clouds, cool temperatures - cool enough for a light coat (I love that being from San Diego where you barely need to own a sweater) and sparkling sun shine. Good day for a stroll and a little window shopping.
Meandering down Rue du Commerce I got tempted into a store by a cute display and the promise of les reductions inside. Mistake. I got myself all depressed trying on some dresses that were on sale. You know how those awful lights in US dressing rooms make you look like the before picture in one of those diet infomercials - same in Paris. Ugh. What a way to ruin a gorgeous day. I closed my eyes as I slipped one of the dresses over my head so as not to see my bumpily skinned thighs (maybe all that chevre wasn't worth it) and only opened them after the bod was well hidden. And who met my gaze in the mirror but some 50 year old mom. Double Ugh. When did all this happen anyway?
Forget the dresses - I shouldn't spend the euros anyway.
Thank god the French boyfriend's eyes are bad and he doesn't wear glasses to bed. At this age Blur is Better.
Never thought of that perk, the men are going blind as they get older also. God help the women going younger like the Demi's of the world. They can afford plastic surgery though! Ha!
